The following is the essay written by Ann McCall to enter Janie in the contest:

Janie Schnitker is Office Manager for Windsor Nursing Home Associates, Inc. DBA Windsor Estates and Windsor Estates, Inc. DBA McCall Manor. Janie has been employed here for 10 years and 5 months.

Janie does all the office work for both Windsor Estates and McCall Manor. The office work for the health care facility is very complex. She works with billing for private residents, Medicaid residents, Medicare residents as well as any other type of insurance residents might have. Janie has the rare ability to do several things at once. She can be involved in a difficult accounting procedure and then immediately turn to answering an employee’s question about group insurance or a time card or what telephone number to call for a specific problem. She can then turn back to the accounting without forgetting where she was or what she was doing. And when she is done, the accounting is correct and the information she gave was right. In the health care field there are many reports due to state and federal level monthly, quarterly, and annually, including census reports, employee status reports, etc. Janie also does the basic monthly bookkeeping for both McCall and Windsor along with the daily office duties found in any office.

Never in the 11 years of her employment has she been an 8 hour a day employee, as she is so determined to get things done that she will work extra at the office or take it home. She has herself on a schedule during the month to get all the required reports done, delivered or mailed to the respected parties on time.

When Janie is not being an Office Manager, she is being a friend. She is a very caring person and will do anything to help our residents at Windsor or at McCall Manor. She always has time to say hello, lend a hand or an ear. A recent example, Janie took time to notify all resident family’s at Windsor about the federal tax refund the president authorized. To get their $300 refund, a tax return needs to be done. She spent time calling all the residents family so they would be aware. The families appreciate the phone call. With Spring upon us, one will find her planting flowers in front of the facility which the resident really enjoy. She’ll even take time to stop and check the squirrel feeder to be sure it has food for the squirrels, as the McCall Manor family enjoy watching the critters. Things like this take from her routine job, however Janie goes over and above to be sure things like this are taken care of and especially if it will help the residents.

At McCall manor there are different events during the year such as pancake feed, Valentine party, St. Patrick’s party or 4th of July party, Janie will help with any events and will be the last to leave as she wants to be sure things are all clean and everything is in order. She is very dedicated employee.

I, as Director of Operations/Owner, would like to enter Janie Schnitker in your “Office Key Contest” for 2008.

Thank you very much,
Ann McCall
